Cultivating Freedom

We are over identified with our minds.

We want to feel safe and secure so we attempt to use our thoughts to predict and control life.

We are caught in a state of over analyzing ourselves and our environment. We use our mind to decide how we should act, how people should treat us, and how to change our conditions to fulfill what we think will make us happy. We are on overdrive.

Staying caught up in incessant thinking keeps us from connecting with ourselves, others, and life in a genuine way.

The reality is that most of life is uncontrollable and unpredictable.

No matter how smart or well prepared we are we have very limited control over most circumstances. Most of us grasp the concept that we cannot control or change other people, yet we continue to try to control the people around us to get them to meet our needs.

We can never feel the sense of safety or security that we are trying to achieve when we are living from this perspective.

When we accept that life is unpredictable, when we surrender our attempts to feel safe and in control – we move towards true freedom.

True freedom comes from finding a seat of conscious awareness within ourselves.

When we are able to see life unfold around us through the eyes of a loving and compassionate observer we will find a true sense of security. In this space we realize that we are eternal and timeless. The external world becomes like a passing weather system. We become like the ever expansive sky. Things around us are free to change all the time.

We can learn to embrace all of the conditions and weather systems that come our way.

We learn that dark and ominous rain clouds will soon give way to bright sun filled skies.

With a surrendered heart, and a from a place of conscious awareness we can enjoy and embrace the beauty of our ever changing life. Our minds our now free to be used as they were intended. We can solve problems, learn, or create masterpieces.

We are set free to fully participate in life.
